Dr. Maura MacPhee RN, PhD, FCNEI
Dr. Maura MacPhee is a Professor of Nursing at the University of British Columbia. She has been studying nurses’ work environments for almost two decades. Work environment factors of interest to Dr. MacPhee include nursing leadership, collaborative practice/teamwork, and workload management, especially safe staffing. Dr. MacPhee’s goal is to use the best evidence to support healthy work environments for nurses, their colleagues, patients, and families. Dr. MacPhee was the lead investigator of the Nursing Leadership Institute in British Columbia, and she is a member of the LEAD program with co-directors, Dr. Pam Baxter and Dr. Sonia Udod.
Dr. Farinaz Havaei RN, MERM, PhD
Dr. Farinaz Havaei is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at the University of British Columbia. She has been studying factors that optimize the nursing workforce and their ability to deliver high quality and safe patient care. Dr. Havaei is particularly interested in examining determinants of workplace psychological health and safety, including leadership and workload management. Dr. Havaei’s goal is to develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based policies and practices that optimize the nursing workforce and their ability to deliver patient care.
