18 Cheating

The University of Regina has clear academic regulations outlined in the Undergraduate Academic Calendar.  Academic Misconduct consists of “Cheating in examinations, plagiarism (using others’ ideas without acknowledgement), giving false information to University staff to gain an academic advantage, downloading an assignment from the Internet, and writing an examination on behalf of someone else are examples of academic misconduct. All forms of academic misconduct are unacceptable in the University, and are subject to penalties.”  (Student Behaviour, University of Regina)

Key Takeaways

  • Only U of R approved software such as Zoom video monitoring, Proctortrack, and Turnitin (with AI detection) are to be used with students. Explore what best suits your teaching style with your instructional designer.
  • All traditional finals used in LIVE classes have to be monitored in some way, unless the exam is an open book or take-home exam.
