I would like to thank the University of Regina for making this Open Educational Resources platform available at no charge to my readers. I have also tried my best to update and/or remove any broken hyperlinks at regular intervals. I do, however, have no control of their content.
Open Access use: This book was used in ENGL 110 – Critical Reading and Writing: “Medicine and Mortality: Illness Narratives,” taught by Prof. Scott J. Wilson at Luther College at the University of Regina in the Winter (January–April) 2022 and 2023 semesters. Eager to engage with some of my younger readers (albeit only in gallery view), I visited both university classrooms via Zoom in early March 2022 and 2023, respectively. It will also be used in the Winter (January-April) 2025 semester when this class will be offered again.
I have described my writing/open access publishing experience as part of the University of Regina’s Open Educational Publishing Spring 2022 and 2024 newsletters; for more information, see “Publications by and about this author“.
9 October 2024: Perfect Timing is now accessible in MERLOT, the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning Online and Teaching, and a digital library and an online community of faculty, students, librarians, administrators and other staff who collaborate to increase the quantity of shareable, high-quality, web-based, interactive teaching and learning materials. Their primary audience is instructors who are interested in using technology in higher education. All linked materials are subject to a rigorous peer review process prior to being included.
13 June 2024: Perfect Timing is now also available as a Social Sciences Libretext on their Human Development bookshelf in a brand-new category, “Life Histories”. Click here to access it! This particular open access version allows you to: 1) adopt the book or selected chapters as a textbook; 2) download the book or selected chapters as PDFs; 3) order a printed copy of the book or selected chapters (as per a fee-based service offered through Libretext). An audio book version will hopefully be available in early 2025.
A sequel entitled Right on Time – Healing from Cancer During a Pandemic was published on the same platform on 23 December 2023. In it, I touch upon my rationale for making Perfect Timing available as an open education resource and detail the actual writing and publication process of the book manuscript.
