When things don’t go as planned, for example, when the strategies we set don’t work well or when we don’t get the grade we had hoped for and we’re challenged with a new course, it can feel discouraging. Often, we may end up believing that we just can’t learn something or are simply not a “good” student, and we focus more on comparing ourselves to others and worrying about how we might look if we fail. When we’re faced with challenges and thoughts like these, having a growth mindset can help us change our thinking so we can stay motivated and on track.
