Teamwork can evoke different emotions and thoughts, and at times, conflicts may arise because of miscommunication. We each have different personalities and experiences that can lead to different emotions but how we choose to communicate and react because of our own emotions or in response to our peers’ emotions, can impact team performance. Emotional intelligence is an important skill and one that has a positive impact on teamwork. Emotional intelligence encompasses everything from recognizing and managing one’s own thoughts and emotions to how we communicate and resolve conflict, stay motivated and how we motivate others. In this lesson, we will take a closer look at the different attributes of emotional intelligence, how emotional intelligence impacts teamwork and helps us with conflict resolution.
