PART III: SELECTED PRACTICE AREAS
The third and final section of this textbook examines select practice areas in rural and remote social work settings. By framing discussions at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels, the chapter authors explore practice with individuals who have experienced abuse and intimate partner violence, with older adults, and with newcomer populations. Social work practice in child protection, as well as in the area of mental health and addictions, is also explored.
Each of the chapters in this section defines populations served, highlights context relevant to each of these populations, identifies particular challenges that may arise specific to rural and northern settings, and highlights opportunities for growth and development of social workers.
