Audacity

In this section on Audacity, you will learn how to use the software to create dynamic interviews, podcasts, and general audio editing techniques. We will go over importing audio files, editing, recording, and playing back audio, then packaging and exporting the project.

Audacity is an easy to use, free, and open-source multi-track audio editor and recorder. It is available to use on Windows, macOS, and Linux operating systems. While this training will focus on the Windows interface, many of the actions and skills found within this training will be similar across each operating system.

Download and install the latest version of Audacity.

You will need the following two files to build this short podcast in each of the exercises.

  1. Sample Interview Audio
  2. Sample Music Audio

Please note, this guide was written using Audacity Version 3.1.3 Due to the open source nature of Audacity and the updates made to the software over time, the version you work with may differ slightly from what is presented here.
