3 The Treaty Relationship (Recording)

This session begins with introductions, protocols of place, an overview of the diverse treaties in Canada. Viewers will understand what a treaty is, various treaties in Canada from peace and friendship to modern treaties, the promises and provisions, and spirit and intent of the numbered treaties.

Named after her maternal grandmother, Annie Battiste, is a proud Mi’kmaw woman and member of Potlotek First Nation situated in Unama’ki (Cape Breton, Nova Scotia). She is a certified teacher, holding a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree (Educational Foundations) from the University of Saskatchewan.
