Backward

Definition: Directed toward the back or past [6].

Before

Definition: In front of or earlier than [4].

Number two comes before number three.

Brackets

Definition: Brackets are symbols in mathematics used to indicate the order of operations. The quantities in the brackets should be operated first or treated as a unit. Types of brackets used in math include round brackets “( )” and square brackets “[ ]” [4].

It is a math operation example that shows the function of brackets. The equation is two times by square bracket then round bracket six minus four, round bracket end, times by three, then plus one, square bracket end, minus one. The final answer is thirteen.
