This guide was originally created by BCcampus Open Education with the assistance of several BC faculty and staff who attended the 2016 Adoption Workshop Development Sprint. Since then, open education has evolved and in response this guide has been updated and expanded into four parts. The first sections address three distinct groups involved in open textbook adoption: instructors, post-secondary institutions, and students. The second–most comprehensive–section focuses on the operational aspects of adoption: surveying instructors about, tracking usage of, and reporting out about open textbooks (and other OER).  The last “Learn More” part provides additional adoption information.

The Presenter Toolkit was created to support presenters in creating accessible and inclusive online and in-person presentations.

Learning to Learn Online prepares you for success in your online journey by introducing you to the unique features of the online learning environment, and providing tools for understanding yourself and your role as a self-directed learner.  The first part of the book focuses on three key questions:

1. Who am I as an online learner?
2. Who am I on my online learning journey with?
3. Who are my instructors? What is their role?

The second part of the book introduces you to effective strategies and tools for online learning: time management strategies, professional communication, analyzing online assignments, and strategic reading.

This collection includes some of the leading authorities in the field, including Marie Battiste, Noam Chomsky, Yvonna S. Lincoln, and Linda Tuhiwai Smith. It is geared towards courses that focus on methodology, colonialism, Indigenous research and knowledge, and theories of change.

This book compiles teaching experiences, peer recommendations and tested resources.  The interviews and tools will familiarize you with many elements of Open Education and Digital Pedagogy at our university.

After working through the Academic Integrity pressbook, students will be able to explain the six fundamental values of academic integrity, identify unethical academic behaviours, and will be familiar with the university’s policy and procedures for academic integrity violations. They will have developed an understanding of plagiarism as a form of misrepresentation, will be able to describe how citations work and will be aware of quoting and paraphrasing properly as well as of good note-taking practices. Students will be able to explain the university services available to them if they need assistance with their work.

The eCampusOntario Open Competency Toolkit is a resource for those who are developing competency frameworks, or those using them for other purposes related to the world of work and learning. Developed collaboratively with input from both industry and education stakeholders, the toolkit provides context, templates, and examples that can be used to build frameworks that are open and shared.

Chapters cover developing research questions, understanding types of sources, searching for information, evaluating sources, and avoiding plagiarism. Each chapter includes self-quizzes and activities to reinforce core concepts and help you apply them.
